Understanding Risks in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to natural hazards, including floods, cyclones and earthquakes. Between 1980 and 2008, the country experienced 219 natural disasters causing damages in excess of US$16 billion. Preparedness has dramatically improved over the years resulting in a reduction of casualties from these events. However, much remains to be done.
